When: 1996About: When Sydney architect Luigi Roselli visited the Marblo factory in the early 90’s he had a simple request. To match the colour of a small glass tile. After many attempts at colour matching the colour was still not there. Finally after some advice from the company founder it was found that in order to achieve the desired colour & effect the laboratory technician were forced to reduce the amount of filler required in the material. The result created a sample which had a slight level of luminosity, and caused the edges to emit a subtle glow. These were the first steps in the adaptation from Plain materials to the ‘Opaque’ range of products, which is now known as ‘Opal’ range. It was the vision & encouragement of unique designers such as Luigi Roselli that we owe much of the credit for this range of product.
