About:
In keeping with the theme of doing things differently, Stephen Varady decided that this coffee shop would not only sell coffee, but the architecture within would live & breathe coffee. In this project the design intent was to create something unique, coffee beans within the Marblo material. The designer had visited Marblo in the early nineties and asked if this was possible. For almost 10 years he had then held onto a production sample, waiting for the day that he would get the chance to use the product. The finished unit is a massive Island bench top with lights both on top & below. A late decision was made - to providing a decorative backing for the Island top in order to conceal the supportive structure showing through the clear material and interfering with the look of the suspended beans. Fittingly - a latte’ coloured Opal materials was chosen and laminated to the underside. Subsequently Marblo now offer ‘Suspense’ materials, which are part of the ‘Back to Nature Collection’. And yes coffee beans are part of the stock! It was the vision & encouragement of unique designers such as Stephen Varady that we owe much of the credit for this range of product.
