As solid surface products make more of an impression into the bathroom market, the limitations that in the past have prevented designers from truly achieving their design intents are slowly being broken down. Straight lines, very square edges, perfectly flat surfaces were never dreamed of in the past with conventional ceramic or porcelain products. The first step was to create ‘fabricated’ box like shapes with solid surface products such as Marblo®. But the obvious drawback was the set up and labour costs involved and this, therefore, prevented designer items to be affordable, and also led to limitations in mass production. Enter Marblo®. The ‘Oasis’ is a vanity top and integrated wash basin that has been injection moulded to exacting specifications of the Sydney designer Sergio Melo e Azevedo. Featuring square corners and edges with crisp, clean, flowing lines, this unit is also sleek at 40mm in total height. The master crafted cabinet by Borello is constructed from dovetailed and mitre joined marine grade plywood and clad in a polished walnut veneer. The beautiful ‘Oasis’ is available and on display at reputable bathroom retailers such as Domayne Bathrooms in New South Wales and Galvins in Perth. 10-Dec-2007
