Press Release - Storm Series
Since the product's invention, Marblo® as been primarily used in areas such as laboratory bench tops where the products technical superiorities have been required. As Marblo® has progressed into the field of architecture and design it has slowly adopted the description of decorative product. More recently, the technical team in the Marblo® Laboratories have been working on developing a synthetic alternative to semi-precious natural stones.   “There are several key factors which spawned Research & Development in this field. (i) Limited global resources (ii) Complexity & high costs usually associated with working & using these products (iii) Most of these stones are very brittle and in most cases not very durable,” Marblo Group Managing Director Rany Obaidi explains.     “In some cases a semi precious natural stones require CNC machining to reduce the products thickness followed by double lamination between sheets of glass. Although the end result is quite beautiful, with the end cost at well over $1,000 per square metre it is not always attainable. Our Storm series retails at less than half of that price,” Obaidi says.   The ‘Storm’ series of product is available immediately, is easy to cut with general wood working tools and can be bent around a radius with ease. Panels are available in 1200mm x 2400mm and in 6mm thickness and come with a pre-finished face which saves double handling and additional fabrication costs which are usually linked to Marblo® sheets. Currently available in Seven (7 off) colours the sheets can also be painted to the rear to give a different colour when back lit.   Marblo® ‘Storm’ Series is part of the Marblo® Back to Nature Collection, and has been primarily designed for use on vertical surfaces. Marblo® suggests that the best effects are usually achieved with the help of rear illumination. 19-Dec-2007
